Wink Is it possible to MM with N/Me?

I'm thinking...

Death: 12+1+3
Soul Reaping: 8+1
Blood Magic:10+1

1. Dark Bond
2. Blood of the Master
3. Infused Condition
4. Animate Bone Fiend
5. Taste of Death
6. Animate Flesh Golem/Arcane Echo (I don't have Animate Flesh Golem, nor am I anywhere near where you cap it...)
7. Blood Renewal
8. Res sig

I'm a little worried about sacrifice, but I tried to fix that with Blood Renewal. Does this look good?

Yes but it's really though to keep both your minions and yourself alive. Plus you lack the hard revive of the Monk secondary so you are only limited to the MM job unless you stick barbs or BR in your build.

Is it possible to reach Ghial (boss with Flesh Golem) from Kaineng City? If so, then I can fit Flesh Golem in...

And Thank you Jeff Highwind for such a quick response! And BR (Blood Renewal, right?) is in my build

MM =/= N/Mo. A lot of people run with pure Necro skills.
MM = MM, don't try to do anything else. Keep your minions and yourself alive because your minions = defense and offense. If you are going to play something, play it to the fullest and don't switch to another tactic or do something else in the middle and lose minions.

You didn't mention if this was a character from Tyria or not. Since Blood Renewal is a Prophecies skill then I assume your character is from there.

1. Aura of the Lich{e} (cap at Hell's Precipice)
2. Blood renewal
3. Blood of the Master
4. Animate
5. Animate
6. Animate
7. optional
8. Res

Aura of the Lich will minimise sacrifices by cutting your health down + providing half damage from all sources (inc sacrifices). Now you have in effect only 1/4 of the sacrifice cost. Blood renewal will provide health regen to easily cover the sacrifices.

^ In reference to the above build, also bring Dark Bond. It works great as a cover enchantment and it also keeps you from getting spiked down (which the AI is now intelligent enough to do). I think everyone here knows what happens when a MM gets killed in the middle of a fight... CHAOS and DEATH (to humans)! So let's avoid that! :P

I usually dont run Blood Renewal since, if you are using a superior rune, you wont have to really worry about major health sacrifice (AotL). I would only suggest that if you have Factions and can run Vampiric Horror to cover the sacrifice instead. I usually run 12/12 Death/Soul and remaining into blood, so my Blood isnt ever really high enough to make that skill worthwhile anyways.

It's all preference. All MM's usually run thier bars slightly different from each other. In reference to AuraofMana, he/she is right when they say that MM's dont have to be N/Mo. I still think Heal Area is a bit lame with the new BotM. MM Mo secondaries are for resses!

Of course, with OoU, Heal Area might be something needed =/

Would Illusion of Weakness trigger if BotM damages you to the restore point?

No. Sacrificing health is not considered damage. Plus, the recharge on that skill is way too long. Though, the Dervish's enchantments under Mysticism WILL trigger because it activates when your health drops below X, not when damage drops your health below X. Then again, its under the Dervish Primary Attribute, making it useless.

Back on this threads topic, I don't think Infuse Condition is necessary.

Until someone or "something" uses an enchant removal on you or casts a degen spell as that wont get halved

Also dont forget it sacrifices 50% of your TOTAL health and *NOT CURRENT* health which is why many MM's suddenly wonder why they're dead when they cast it at 25%hp or something.

Everything you need to MM is in Death Magic... the secondary is merely because the majority of pugs don't have the mental capacity to recognise MMs as anyone without /Mo.

I agree with that, but on the other otherhand we had a MM the other night with /R who was a complete tit and a disgrace to MM's as he obviously had no idea what being a MM is all about

I most often MM as N/Me. I see no reason to waste points in HP when I don't really need it. I actually have been doing Fiends + Vamps + OoB, under Dark Bond and with BoTM as my only minions sustaining skill.

So... You're saying that if he changed his secondary to Mo, he would stop being a complete tit? I doubt the solidity of this argument.

Actually N/R is one of my favorite combinations since Healing Spring can be very useful in sustaining Minions between altercations. Of course that isn't really relevant to the question at hand. Evilsod correctly states that you can be a great MM without going outside the DM line, which means N/* is a fine combination. Since all the OP has from Me is Arcane Echo, this could work and he ends up with the ability to get 2 Fiends rather quickly.

Is it a build I would recommend? No. Would I recommend switching secondaries just to respec this SS/SV to a MM? I don't think you have to.

Literally...if you think a Minion Master can't efficiently play as a N/me then you're an idiot....I'm not saying that if you like N/mo or N/e or N/r that your an idiot I'm saying that if you think a N/me can't do it good you're an idiot...

All have their opinions on it of course a lot of people don't use secondaries and I'll say right now that I don't think AE is the skill to use if you do use any mesmer ones.

I ran MM as N/W before i could change to a monk secondary.

And honestly, as long as your fighting your always getting new minions so its not much of a problem

A mesmer secondary works just fine in some areas that i solo i need mantra of resolve to get minions up and i usually take grenth's balance as my elite since its a nice self heal to sacrificing constantly.
